CFS Technical Director, Dr Hien Ly, was invited to give several presentations on CNG vehicle safety at several Australian and international forums during 2010. They included:
- A presentation on CNG vehicle safety at the Queensland Chapter of Engineers Australia's Risk Engineering Society at the Hawken Auditorium of Engineers Australia in Brisbane on 23 Feb 2010 (see event flyer). The theme of this seminar was "Natural Gas Safety - Perspectives from Transport and Industry". As Brisbane City has 500 CNG buses, or 50% of its city bus population, CNG bus safety is a subject of great interest to both its city planners, safety authorities and the general population. Consequently, the presentation attracted a large audience which filled up the auditorium.

Support for the Second Annual CNG-NGV Vietnam Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on 28-31 March 2010, where he gave presentations at the annual ANGVA Lecture and Workshop. The theme of the 2010 Forum was "Implementing Pipeless Infrastructure for the Industrial and Public Transportation Sector". Dr Ly's presentation was on the Safety requirements of CNG mother daughter systems (warning: 2MB pdf). His ANGVA Lecture and interactive Workshop was on "CNG Mother Daughter System Operational Safety".

The ANGVA summary report is also available as a pdf. - Two presentations at the biennial 12th International IANGV Conference and Exhibition, NGV 2010 Roma, in Rome on 8 - 10 June 2010. They were: "Overview of CNG vehicle safety" (warning: 8MB file) and "How to start a successful CNG program". Dr Ly also chaired a conference session on NGV Standards and Safety.
The Second Annual CNG-NGV Vietnam Forum was also reported by the NGV Transportation online magazine.

The Biennial ANGVA 2011, Beijing, Conference and Exhibition
The 4th Biennial Asia Pacific NGV Association (ANGVA) Conference and Exhibition, hosted by the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC), was held at the China National Convention Centre, Beijing, PRC, on 18-21 October 2011. Dr Ly presented a paper on the design and safety of CNG vehicle workshops. He chaired the session on the opportunities for liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles, worked as a member of the evaluation panel to select the best paper, and co-conducted the one-day ANGVA 2011 CNG Cylinder Safety Workshop concerning cylinder selection, installation, operation and maintenance and periodic recertification and inspection of cylinders, CNG fire fighting and CNG fire protection. While at the conference, Dr Ly also gave an interview to the China Automotive News on the safety of natural gas vehicles.
